Kesla Discontinues Its Wood Chipper Product Group

12.06.2025 Press releases

Kesla Oyj has decided to discontinue its Wood Chipper product group as part of the company’s strategic review. In August 2024, Kesla informed its distribution network of a temporary suspension of chipper production and announced the initiation of a strategic assessment of the product group. As a result of this assessment, the company has resolved to permanently cease chipper manufacturing and to begin the process of selling product rights and associated patents.

The discontinuation covers the entire Kesla chipper product family – including models C645, C860, C1045 and C1060 and their various configurations – as well as the proCHIPPER control system. The product line includes a number of valid international patents, covering for example chipper rotors and blowers. Over the past 20 years, Kesla has delivered more than 400 chippers to 15 different countries.

Several international chipper manufacturers are important potential OEM partners for Kesla. With this decision, new opportunities for collaboration are opening, as Kesla is no longer seen as a competitor in this product segment. This enables Kesla to focus more strongly on developing new OEM relationships and offering its comprehensive range of cranes suitable for wood chipping applications to a wider customer base.

Spare parts sales, technical support and maintenance services for existing Kesla chippers in the market will continue as normal, in accordance with customer commitments and warranty terms.
