A smouldering fire was detected at Kesla’s Joensuu factory on 23 March, 2026 at approximately 22:15. Rescue authorities arrived quickly on site. They located the origin of the fire in a specific roof penetration area within the industrial hall’s roof structures. The firefighting personnel opened the roof structures around the penetration point and extinguished the smouldering fire with water.
The damage to the roof structure was successfully contained, and the risk of a major fire was avoided. Production at the Kesla factory continued normally on the morning of 24 March. As follow‑up actions, the rescue authorities will carry out a routine fire‑cause investigation, and Kesla will implement repairs and any other necessary modifications to the building.
