NEW 12 TONNE-METRE CRANE FOR THE KESLA RANGE

04.06.2015 Uutiset

Kesla has dramatically updated its truck crane range in recent years. The core themes of the new 21-series are lightness, usability and easy maintenance, which are also reflected by the new 12 tonne-metre straight boom crane KESLA 2112, which will now be introduced to the public for the first time.

The first KESLA 21-series straight boom crane, the 10 tonne-metre KESLA 2110, was presented at the Elmia fair held in Sweden. After this, the series was supplemented with the 9 tonne-metre straight boom 2109 model, which is now followed by the 12 tonne-metre straight boom truck crane KESLA 2112 making its appearance at the SkogsElmia fair.

Four outreach options

There are four outreach options available for the KESLA 2112 crane. With a single extension, the outreaches are 7.2 and 8.1 metres, while the outreaches with a double extension are 9.7 and 10.2 metres. The length of the extensions is 1.6 m in the single extension model and 2 x 1.6 metres in the double extension model.

The control valve options are Parker's mechanical K130CF or the electrical L90LS. The hydraulics of the valves and the crane function together flawlessly and the crane responds to controls without delay. The compatible KESLA proG grapples complement the carefully planned assembly.

-          “The new 21-series cranes have received a great deal of praise,” states Kari Kokko, Product Development Director at Kesla. “Our cranes have been said to function like extension of the users' hands. This tells us that we are on the right track when it comes to crane development.”

The operation of the crane is also facilitated by its slewing: in the new model, the slewing angle is 425 degrees while the slewing torque is 28 kNm.

KESLA 21-series cranes: Light, usable and easy to maintain

The most essential change in the KESLA 21-series truck cranes was the integration of the hoses and pipes inside the lifting boom and outer boom. The protection continues all the way to the grapple, utilising the KesLINK link solution patented by Kesla.  The structure reduces the need for maintenance and makes it easier to conduct maintenance tasks.

“The latest 21-series hoses can be replaced easily in half an hour,” says Kokko.

For a 12 tonne-metre crane, the 2112 is relatively light. For example, the 9.7 metre version with an open control device weighs 2,300 kg. In addition to a normal open control device, front and side control devices are available, along with the KESLA proCAB cabin manufactured by the Finnish NTCab, which is provided in normal and XL size.

The crane's stabiliser legs are separate. The standard stabilisation width is 3,840 mm, but a 4,770 mm wide option is also available. There are two size categories of stabiliser leg cylinders, each of which includes three optional stroke lengths. The stabiliser plate for the leg can be either fixed or tilting. There are three stabiliser leg turning angles (60o, 90o and 180o), or they

Added comfort with the correct accessories

A vast range of accessories is available for KESLA cranes, ranging from control valves, cabins, stabiliser leg options to working lights and stem support. However, one of the most popular accessories for the KESLA cranes is the central lubrication system.

-         “The system is particularly popular in Finland, where it is purchased for all cranes almost without exception,” states  Mika Tahvanainen, the Marketing Director at Kesla.

The new 2112 crane will be on display at Kesla Oyj's section 496 at the SkogsElmia with the hybrid chipper.
