FinnMETKO press release: KESLA chippers are now selling well

29.08.2018 News

The KESLA chipper range includes three classes of chippers: C645, C860 and C1060. Chip-pers are available regardless of the size class, the truck, or the tractor and with the type of its own engine powered. The chippers have been developed forward and the current situa-tion is that the demand for chippers has increased dramatically in the neighboring markets.

New logCUT-rotors

One of the development issues of recent years has been the chipper rotors. The KESLA logCUT rotor, launched two years ago has proved to be excellent both in the company testing and in customer use.

- The quality of the chipper with the new rotor is also top notch according to customers, says Product Manager Mr. Jouni Kainulainen from Kesla. - There is also positive feedback on productivity and fuel economy.

The KESLA logCUT rotor is straight-bladed. The blades of the larger rotors are positioned in four segments. The 645-model rotors are positioned in a new way to a spiral form. The number of blades varies depending on the rotor size between 6 to 10 blades. The knife holders are fastened with bolts, but the blades themselves remain in place with the means of a friction lock. This allows for quick blade replacement and reduces blade damage, for example when stones hit a blade. The rotors’ open chip channels effectively transport the chips to the spinning impeller. The chipper channel structure is patented, as well as the lower blade holder. The maintainability of the rotors is of the highest quality, and as there are a lot of easily replaceable parts, for example, the blades in a small rotor can be able to be resharpened several times and can be rotated.

Kesla’s focus is on control systems for chippers

On the Kesla stand 943 is also displayed the company’s developed KESLA proCHIPPER -control system. With the KESLA proCHIPPER system it is possible to control both the crane and the chipper; it is suitable either for Tractor or Truck bed mounted model control. Control is done by using the joystick or, if necessary, by the 7“touch screen, which belongs to the system. There are three different ready chipping modes available per user. Chipping mode adjustments can be edited and saved for different drivers.

No such system can be found on the market, Mr. Kainulainen smiles very proudly.

Demand has risen in the neighboring areas

During the past year, demand for chippers has been increasing considerably. There is no specific reason for such increasing demand that Kesla can emphasize.

- Our efforts have been made to the development and promotion of sales of chippers, whilst the rising popularity of bioenergy together might have increased the demand, says Mr. Kainulainen.

Chipper in working is shown on stand 943

The KESLA C860T Tractor chipper and the C1060A truck bed mounted chipper are presented on stand 943. Workshops are held daily at 10:00, 12:00, 13:30 and at 15:00. Both chippers are equipped with a new rotor and a KESLA proCHIPPER -control system. The control system can also be studied separately.
